POSITION DESCRIPTION
JJS CANADA is seeking a strategic and market-driven Product Manager to lead the development, positioning, and commercial performance of the company’s product portfolio.
Reporting to the National Sales & Marketing Director, this role is responsible for managing and optimizing the entire lifecycle of the product portfolio, ensuring alignment between market opportunities, customer needs, and the company’s national growth strategy.
The Product Manager plays a key role in defining product positioning, go-to-market strategies, pricing approaches, and portfolio optimization initiatives to support sustainable business growth and profitability.
This position combines strategic vision, market intelligence, product analysis, and commercial activation in close collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Procurement, Operations, and Finance teams. The role is also responsible for monitoring product performance, identifying growth opportunities, supporting product launches, and ensuring the successful execution of strategic initiatives across the organization.
In addition, the Product Manager contributes to continuous market analysis, competitive benchmarking, and customer insights to support data-driven decision-making and portfolio evolution.
KEY OBJECTIVES OT THE ROLE
- Act as the voice of the market by analyzing customer needs, market trends, and competitor activities to support strategic decision-making
- Develop and execute product strategies that drive sustainable growth, profitability, and market share expansion
- Strengthen alignment between product strategy, marketing initiatives, and field sales execution
- Support and enable sales teams through effective product positioning, sales tools, and go-to-market strategies
- Drive the successful launch and commercial activation of new products in collaboration with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Ensure a competitive and value-added product portfolio aligned with customer expectations and market opportunities
- Monitor product performance, identify growth opportunities, and support continuous portfolio optimization
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Product Line Strategy
Define the vision, positioning, and value proposition of the product portfolio
Analyze market trends, competition, and customer needs
Identify growth and innovation opportunities
Develop and manage the product roadmap (annual roadmap) - Product Development & Launch
Coordinate new product launches
Develop sales arguments and marketing tools
Train and support sales teams
Participate in meetings with strategic suppliers and customers - Commercial Performance
Analyze sales, volumes, market share, and margins
Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities
Support sales teams on strategic projects
Contribute to the definition of promotions and commercial initiatives - Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with:
the Pricing & Assortment Specialist to define product pricing balancing both market expectations and the company’s profitability aspirations
Sales: training, field support, activation
Marketing: content, campaigns, positioning
Procurement: forecasting, volume management
Finance: performance tracking and profitability
REQUIRED PROFILE
Who You Are
- A strategic and market-oriented professional with strong business acumen and product management capabilities.
- A proactive and analytical thinker capable of transforming market insights into actionable business strategies.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced and evolving environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and cross-functional projects simultaneously.
- A collaborative team player able to influence and align multiple stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Procurement, Operations, and Finance.
- A strong communicator with excellent presentation, relationship-building, and commercial activation skills.
- Driven by innovation, continuous improvement, and measurable business results.
- Customer-focused and passionate about delivering value-added solutions aligned with market needs.
What You Have Done
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in Product Management, Category Management, Marketing, or Commercial Strategy roles.
- Proven experience managing product portfolios and supporting revenue growth initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute go-to-market strategies and product launch plans.
- Strong experience analyzing market trends, customer needs, competitive positioning, and product performance.
- Experience working in industrial, technical, manufacturing, or distribution environments (considered a strong asset).
- Track record of collaborating effectively with sales teams to support commercial growth and field execution.
- Experience in pricing strategy, portfolio optimization, and profitability analysis.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with experience using KPIs, reporting tools, and business performance metrics.
- Hands-on experience with CRM and business management systems (Pipedrive experience considered an asset).
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written); French is considered a strong asset.
- Willingness to travel occasionally across Canada based on business needs.
