JOB DESCRIPTION
The Continuing Education Department of Champlain College Saint-Lambert requires the services of an HOURLY INSTRUCTOR to teach the course ATYPICAL LEARNING (351-307-LA).
In this course, students will explore the impact of learning difficulties and disorders on the clients’ functioning.
They will gain knowledge about manifestations of Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Developmental Coordination Disorder, Giftedness, and various Learning Disorders.
The course also guides students in assessing an individual’s adaptive potential by profiling strengths and difficulties, analyzing adaptability, and understanding the needs of the person and their family.
Students will learn to select appropriate intervention methods suitable for their clients.
Methods will include promotion of empowerment and the development of organizational skills.
Practical recommendations for additional resources will also be covered, ensuring students are equipped to support clients professionally and ethically within various working contexts.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline and 2 years teaching experience.
Teaching experience in special care counselling or a related program such as Inclusive education is an asset.
Experience working n the special care counselling field with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and identified learning challenge(s), especially in a classroom setting, is strongly recommended.
This course is taught in English; proficiency in English is required.

Tuesdays 9-12
(December 15 ONLY)
Wednesdays 1-4
(October 7 & 28; November 4 & 18; December 2, 9 & 16 ONLY)
Thursdays 1-4
(EXCEPT: October 8 & 29; December 10)
All classes are given in-person from the college campus.
The hired instructor must have the ability to teach a course online/at a distance, should the need exceptionally arise.
The schedule and course dates may change based on the needs of the program.
The program start could be delayed or cancelled due to insufficient registration.
COMMENTS
This course is taught in English. The selected incumbent will be required to work in English.
