Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week) as well as after-hours on-call support of 1 to 2 hours per week

POSITION
Champlain College Saint-Lambert is seeking the services of DATA PROCESSING OPERATOR for a regular full-time position in the Information Technology Department.
FUNCTIONS
Reporting to the Coordinator of the Information Technology Department, the incumbent will provide support to regular day and Continuing Education users including students, and assure the good functioning of the Information Technology hardware and software within the established procedures for the computer labs, as well as in various administrative services. He/she will provide assistance to users on computer-related problems, including supporting network, 3rd party software, websites and Windows/Mac operating system support.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Installs and updates software and hardware in cooperation with the Data Processing Technician;
2. Assists Technicians in supporting network switches and wireless endpoints;
3. Provides assistance to students & faculty in the use of IT hardware and software in the labs;
4. Provides assistance to students regarding technology use in the College;
5. Provides technical support for computers in faculty offices and labs;
6. Identifies defective IT equipment, including classroom equipment such as multimedia projectors, and performs either first line maintenance or the necessary follow-up, according to established procedures;
7. Makes the necessary service calls and follows up for the repair of IT equipment and verifies that the repairs have been effected as required;
8. Tests and evaluates IT hardware and software;
9. Ensures that data is appropriately removed from identified equipment;
10. Maintains supplies in labs, such as paper and toner;
11. Maintains the labs in an orderly fashion;
12. Performs any related duties as required;
13. Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
Must have a diploma of vocational studies (DEP) in an appropriate specialty.
OR
To have an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority and have at least two (2) years of pertinent experience.
COMPETENCIES
Must be familiar with PC’s and Macintosh computers and their respective operating systems and have network support knowledge appropriate to an operator-level position.
Must be able to communicate in English and French, orally and in writing.
A+ certification would be highly desirable.
Required Tests
Candidates will be required to submit to language tests (English and French) as well as computer knowledge tests.

COMMENTS
The selected incumbent will be required to work in English in order to better serve faculty, staff and students.
