The General Labourer (Concrete), under the direction of the Production Supervisor, is responsible for aiding in areas of the Production Plant. The position duties may include collecting materials, setting up forms, concrete placing, participating in housekeeping, and performing various other tasks throughout the plant. The General Labourer has a strong work ethic combined with attention to detail to support the various functions of the Production Team. This position on a 2-week rotation cycle, 2-weeks on days and 2-weeks on afternoons.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Set-up and close molds for concrete pours
  • Clean work areas and equipment as assigned
  • Clean and oil molds for products
  • Complete daily preventative maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Receive instructions and determine work assignment
  • Maintain, clean, and finalize concrete pieces
  • May assemble hardware according to procedures and drawing specifications
  • Assist machine operators, assemblers, and other workers as needed
  • Operate various hand and power tools, machines, and other equipment as directed
  • Place reinforcing rods or wire mesh in molds and pour concrete from suspended buckets into molds
  • May set-up, adjust, and operate specialized machinery to mix, drill, grind, and cute concrete according to specific requirements
  • Demold castings and minor finish surfaces of castings
  • Inspect and report on repairs and finishing
Skills, Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Construction, production and/or manufacturing experience is considered an asset.
  • Prior experience in a precast setting or working with concrete is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented and willing to complete hands-on concrete work
  • Commitment to quality and safety
  • Good mathematical abilities
  • Able to communicate and work well with others
