At Dubé, health and safety are not just a priority: they are an integral part of our culture. We are looking for a motivational Health and Safety Officer who can positively influence teams in the field and ensure rigorous monitoring of OHS files, particularly in the context of demanding mining projects. This also means being a field leader in health and safety, working closely with management, human resources, health and safety, and the client.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Have health and safety as a core value and know how to apply it on a daily basis;
  • Intervene and ensure rigorous follow-up of the internal process in the event of a workplace accident;
  • Lead investigations related to incidents and accidents and assist stakeholders in the reporting process;
  • Supervise visits and inspections by the Ministry of Labor, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development (MOL);
  • Regularly update internal managers and clients on the progress of ongoing cases;
  • Maintain harmonious professional relationships with mine safety officers by listening to them and working with the superintendent;
  • Welcome and train new workers when they arrive on site (“Introduction Dubé”);
  • Collaborate with the HR department to ensure compliance and updating of mandatory training;
  • Exercise motivational leadership in the field, promote a safe work environment, and act as an OHS spokesperson during daily meetings;
  • Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with government standards;
  • Develop strategies to eliminate or control hazards by involving the various stakeholders;
  • Establish, implement, and follow up on OHS corrective measures, programs, and procedures;
  • Participate in the development of the OHS training program and act as a trainer for certain parts;
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department and the integration of new health and safety technologies.

Desired profile:

  • Relevant training in occupational health and safety or equivalent experience;
  • Significant experience in an industrial or mining environment (major asset);
  • Excellent analytical and accident investigation management skills;
  • Natural leadership, credibility in the field, and strong influence;
  • Administrative rigor and ease in managing CNESST, MOL, and WSIB files;
  • Excellent communication skills and developed political sense.
