Job Description
The Mining Sustainability Project Manager will be responsible for carrying out a variety of tasks related to projects in mining environmental management and social responsibility. Areas of focus include water management and tailings storage facilities, biodiversity conservation, climate change resilience, community and Indigenous relations, and mine site reclamation.
The successful candidate will prepare manuals, procedures, and processes; deliver training activities; facilitate risk assessments; lead emergency response exercises; and participate in various workshops with mining operations. As a Project Manager, they will serve as the primary point of contact for all projects under their responsibility.
The Project Manager will be expected to continuously expand their expertise by participating in industry associations and working groups to identify, learn, and implement mining industry best practices.
The successful candidate will work closely with other project managers and the design team and will report to the Project Directors. They must be familiar with the requirements of mining industry standards and regulations, including the Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) initiative, the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), and the new consolidated mining standard.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or a related field;
- Master’s degree considered an asset;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the mining industry or a related field;
- Experience in project management;
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of initiative;
- Strong listening and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a team environment;
- Strong written communication skills in both French and English;
- Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and provide training or instruction;
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions and Benefits
- Remote work, with a monthly visit to the Go-Mine office in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec;
