The Structural Steel Drafter/Detailer is responsible for producing 3D shop and installation drawings used for the fabrication and assembly of structural components. He or she analyzes and interprets project information, calculates technical constraints, and ensures the consistency, compliance, and quality of drawings according to applicable standards. The drafter also writes and updates technical documentation and performs various related tasks.

Work Schedule

  • Daytime schedule, Monday to Friday (flexible hours);
  • 40 hours per week.

Trois-Rivières, Quebec.

Responsibilities

  • Produce shop drawings for the fabrication of various structures using 3D modeling software (BOCAD or Advance Steel);
  • Produce installation drawings for on-site assembly using 3D modeling software;
  • Analyze, understand, and interpret project-related information and ensure data consistency;
  • Determine and calculate functional, physical, dimensional, structural, or geometric constraints of components;
  • Comply with current technical and quality standards;
  • Update and prepare technical documentation and reports;
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required;
  • Collaborate to maintain cohesion and coordination with all departments of the organization;
  • Promote, encourage, and contribute to prevention efforts for a healthy, safe, respectful, and continuously improving work environment;
  • Perform any other reasonable and related tasks normally carried out by someone in this position, in accordance with the skills, abilities, and responsibilities of a Structural Steel Drafter/Detailer.

Hiring Requirements

  • Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Civil Engineering Technology, Architecture, or Mechanical Engineering;
  • Vocational diploma in drafting with at least 2 years of experience;
  • Experience as a steel structure detailer;
  • Knowledge of BOCAD or Advance Steel software (an asset).
