Senior Structural Engineer:
Responsibilities:
A major nuclear project is currently under construction in Ontario. As part of this project, we are looking for a structural engineer who is motivated to join a dynamic team of engineers.
The engineer's responsibilities will include:
- Liaising with the client to discuss design and technical requirements
- Working with the site team to develop methods, procedures, and calculations during the temporary works supporting the assembly, design, and fabrication of precast steel modules
- Coordinating with backup teams in Paris (France) if complex issues requiring additional expertise arise
Profile:
We are seeking a Professional Engineer with extensive expertise in reinforced concrete design. Experience with steel concrete design is considered an asset. The ideal candidate will be capable of critically evaluating designs and recommending technical solutions, including innovative construction methods. A strong commitment to working on complex projects and contributing effectively to a team is essential, alongside demonstrated autonomy and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) Ontario designation
- Minimum of 5 years of experience
- Proficiency in modeling software (SAP, ETABS, etc.) and in CSA (and ACI is a plus).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
You will work on-site as part of a team at our client's location, maintaining regular contact with our back-office technical staff. As the project develops, this role may expand. Strong candidates could take on more responsibilities within the project or pursue wider opportunities at Setec in Canada.
Senior Structural Engineer (Temporary Structures):
Responsibilities:
A major nuclear project is currently under construction in Ontario. As part of this project, we are looking for an engineer specializing in temporary structures/works who is motivated to join a dynamic team of engineers.
Most construction projects require the construction of temporary structures (e.g. retaining walls, crane pedestals, assembly buildings, heavy prefabrication, scaffolding, shoring, formwork, and steel structures, etc.) that are not designed by the main designer.
The engineer's responsibilities will include:
- Liaising with the client to discuss design and technical requirements
- Designing and performing calculations for temporary structures or temporary phases (concrete, simple frameworks, ensuring safety, stability, and compliance with applicable codes and standards)
- Coordinating with the backup teams in Paris (France) if complex issues requiring additional expertise arise
- Monitoring progress on site and verifying compliance of temporary works installations
- Providing technical support to construction teams during the assembly and dismantling of temporary structures.
Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) Ontario designation
- Minimum of 5 years of experience
- Proficiency in modeling software (SAP, ETABS, etc.) and in CSA (and the ACI is a plus).
