Located in the heart of Nunavut, Agnico-Eagle Meadowbank complex is definitely a unique place to work. Surrounded by tundra in a low Artic environnement, this client offers ''Fly-In Fly-Out'' job opportunities and hires over 1100 employees at its Meadowbank and Amaruq mines!

We are currently looking for a heady duty mechanic for our client Amaruq mine.

Under the direction of his foreman, the mechanic will be assigned responsibilities for the inspection, modification, repair, improvement and maintenance of underground and open pit mining mobile machinery.

The main tasks that will be entrusted to him are:

  • Planning and carrying out the work;
  • Detection and repair of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic problems;
  • Occasional welding work;
  • Reading plans and preventive maintenance;
  • The choice and installation of components.

Employment conditions:

  • Permanent, full-time position;
  • Hourly salary between 38.42$/h and 52.78$/h;
  • Time paid at the time and a half rate for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week, for work performed on Saturday and Sunday as well as on statutory holidays;
  • Work schedule of 14 working days, followed by 14 days off. The work shifts are 12 hours, alternating day and night rotation;
  • Fly-in / Fly-out: Workers can take the plane at Mirabel airport or at Val-d'Or airport;
  • Lodged and fed on site;
  • Travel allowance package;
  • Tools, PPE and workclothes supplied on the mine site;
  • Night prime bonus of 1.00$/hour;
  • Underground bonus of 7.00$/hour;
  • Group insurance and pension plan;
  • Work clothing allowance!

Required Skills

  • Have professional diploma in Heavy-Duty Mechanic or Truck and Coach Mechanic;
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of experience on the maintenance of underground mining mobile machinery, mandatory;
  • Having the Red Seal 421A or 310T, an asset;
  • Having the Common Core certification, an asset;
  • Be able to read mechanical plans and have knowledge of hydraulics, electricity and welding, mandatory;
  • Have aptitudes for research work and for teamwork;
  • Agree to work on rotating shifts;
  • Having worked in the mining industry is an asset.
