Are you an experienced Heavy Duty Equipment Technician looking to take the next step in your mining career?

LJL Mécanique is currently recruiting Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians / Heavy Duty Mechanics for several mining partners in Ontario and Nunavut.

We are looking for experienced mechanics with a strong background working on heavy mobile equipment, particularly in mining, construction, forestry, heavy industrial or similar environments.

Whether you already hold a Red Seal certification or have built strong hands-on experience working on heavy equipment, we want to hear from you.

Open-pit operations, remote Arctic mine sites, large-scale mobile equipment and long-term mining projects: multiple opportunities are available based on your experience, qualifications and availability.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Depending on the assignment and mine site, you may be responsible for:

  • Inspecting, maintaining and repairing heavy mobile mining equipment;
  • Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues;
  • Performing preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance;
  • Troubleshooting equipment failures and identifying effective repair solutions;
  • Repairing, adjusting or replacing defective components;
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics and service manuals;
  • Performing pre-operational inspections and equipment commissioning;
  • Planning and completing repairs within established timelines;
  • Carrying out occasional welding and fabrication work when required;
  • Working on various components including engines, powertrains, braking systems, hydraulics, electrical systems and suspensions;
  • Collaborating with maintenance, operations and planning teams;
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment;
  • Following all site-specific health and safety procedures and standards.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education and Experience

  • Professional diploma, apprenticeship or equivalent training in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Heavy Duty Mechanic, Truck and Coach Technician, or a related trade;
  • Strong experience working on heavy mobile equipment;
  • Previous experience in mining, heavy construction, forestry or heavy industrial environments is considered a strong asset;
  • Experience working on large mining equipment is highly valued.

Certifications and Technical Qualifications

  • Red Seal certification is considered a strong asset, but is not mandatory for all assignments;
  • Ontario 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification is considered an asset for Ontario-based positions;
  • Ontario 310T Truck and Coach Technician certification may also be considered depending on the position;
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems;
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills;
  • Experience reading technical drawings, schematics and service documentation;
  • Welding and fabrication experience is considered an asset;
  • Valid driver's licence may be required depending on the mine site.

  • You are an experienced, hands-on mechanic with strong technical judgment;
  • You are confident troubleshooting complex equipment issues;
  • You are safety-focused and committed to following established procedures;
  • You are independent, organized and solution-oriented;
  • You work well as part of a maintenance team;
  • You are comfortable working long shifts and rotational schedules;
  • You are adaptable and comfortable working in remote and fly-in / fly-out mining environments;
  • You are comfortable working in northern and Arctic conditions when required.

WHAT WE OFFER

Conditions vary depending on the assignment and mine site, but may include:

  • Hourly wages typically ranging from $45.00 to $55.00, depending on experience, qualifications and assignment;
  • Rotational schedules, including 14 days on / 14 days off;
  • 12-hour shifts, with day and night rotations depending on operational requirements;
  • Overtime paid according to applicable employment conditions;
  • Night-shift premiums depending on the assignment;
  • Paid travel time for certain mine sites;
  • Fly-in / fly-out or drive-in / drive-out arrangements depending on location;
  • Transportation to and from the mine site depending on the assignment;
  • Travel allowances;
  • Camp accommodations and meals provided for many remote assignments, including northern and Arctic mine sites;
  • Work clothing and personal protective equipment provided according to site requirements;
  • Group insurance and retirement savings programs where applicable;

  • Long-term assignments and opportunities to expand your mining experience;
