Description
Under the supervision of the Supervisor and/or Team Leader, the Specialized Operator, Roads and Railways carries out repair and maintenance work on roads and railways, as well as general tasks.

The incumbent will:
- Ensure his or her own safety and that of other workers during work and comply with railway operating regulations.
- Participate in and perform maintenance and inspection programs on roads and railways.
- Repair switches and railway lines in order to meet current standards and make them safe for rail traffic operations.
- Carry out welding and oxy-cutting work on road and rail components.
- Operate the heavy and specialized equipment required for work.
- Participate in snow removal.
- Complete reports and documentation related to own work.
- Perform other related duties or tasks requested by supervisor.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of his/her department and service.
Qualifications
- Professional degree (DEP) in welding or other relevant technical training. Any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in operating heavy machinery.
- Training in welding/oxy-cutting (an asset).
- Experience in the railway sector (an asset).
- Skills in operating and manoeuvring heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Good judgment, vigilance, accuracy and attention during operations.
- Teamwork.
- Readiness to work outdoors regardless of bad weather.
- Very good physical condition (able to lift 20 kg or more).
- Must possess a valid Class 3 driver’s license.
