We are seeking a Bridge Engineer to lead a team of engineers who are part of the growing Civil Infrastructure Group. In this role, you will also provide support to the industrial side of the business.

What You’ll Do at Shellex:

  • Lead the technical delivery of bridge and civil structure designs and construction specifications for new build and retrofit projects.

  • Manage the successful commercial delivery of projects or portions of projects.

  • Utilize AutoCAD to prepare structural drawings, including plans, elevations, cross-sections, and other details in accordance with Ministry standards and specifications.

  • Conduct OSIM inspections with MTO and various municipalities.

  • Assist in developing engineering solutions for a wide range of bridge rehabilitation and new design projects, from concept to construction, ensuring compliance with customer quality standards.

  • Work both independently and collaboratively to define project objectives, establish work scope, develop budgets and schedules, plan tasks, and provide technical direction and oversight.

  • Execute complex engineering tasks efficiently and accurately while mentoring and leading less experienced team members.

  • Prepare and review detailed engineering calculations, models, drawings, specifications, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, technical reports, procurement documents, design packages, proposals, and analyses.

  • Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing contractor proposals.

  • Work with other groups within the organization to deliver cohesive projects to the client.

Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.

  • Intimate familiarity with bridge design and codes (CHBDC, MTO Standards, etc.).

  • MTO RAQS qualification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months.

  • Proven expertise in CAD software (Civil 3D, Open Roads).

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Attention to detail and a results-focused mindset.

  • Exceptional communication skills.

  • Proficiency in French is an asset (but not required).

  • Valid driver’s license.
