We are looking for a Bridge Engineer to Lead a team of engineers that area a part of the growing Civil Infrastructure Group.  In this role, you would also provide support to the industrial side of the business.

What You’ll Do at Shellex:
  • Lead the technical delivery of bridge & civil structures designs and construction specifications for new build and retrofit projects;
  • Manage successful commercial delivery of projects or portions of projects;
  • Utilize AutoCAD to prepare structure drawings including drawing all plans, elevations, cross-sections and other details in accordance with Ministry standards and specifications.
  • Conducting OSIM inspections with MTO and various municipalities.
  • Assisting in the development of engineering solutions for a wide range of bridge rehabilitation and new design projects, from concept to construction, ensuring compliance with customer quality standards.
  • Working both independently and collaboratively to define project objectives, establish work scope, develop budgets and schedules, plan tasks, and provide technical direction and oversight.
  • Executing complex engineering tasks efficiently and accurately while mentoring and leading less experienced team members.
  • Preparing and reviewing detailed engineering calculations, models, drawings, specifications, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, technical reports, procurement documents, design packages, proposals, and analyses.
  • Providing technical support during construction, including reviewing contractor proposals.
  • Work with other groups within the organization to deliver a cohesive project to the client.

Qualifications required:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • Intimate familiarity with bridge design and codes (CHBDC, MTO Standards, etc.).
  • MTO RAQS qualification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Proven expertise in CAD software (Civil 3D, Open Roads).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and results-focused.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Proficiency in French an asset (but not required)
  • Valid driver’s license
