Your Role
Reporting to the Director of Fit, the Fit Technician plays a key role in the development of garments that reflect Tristan’s brand image and high standards of excellence. You will be responsible for ensuring the perfect fit, construction integrity, and stylistic consistency of our collections, working closely with internal teams and external partners.
Main Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the design team to achieve the desired fit, construction, and aesthetics for the collections.
- Create detailed technical packages (measurements, construction, grading) for suppliers.
- Adjust specifications based on fabrics and styles to ensure consistent quality.
- Measure and review samples before fittings to ensure they meet established standards.
- Lead live model fitting sessions and recommend adjustments to optimize fit and garment construction.
- Write clear, detailed fit comments, supported by photos and digital sketches.
- Maintain constant, proactive communication with suppliers to ensure understanding and application of Tristan's requirements.
- Manage sample approvals for fit and production, including final grading specifications.
- Keep the PLM system updated with sample histories, adjustments, and approvals.
- Develop and maintain a library of base patterns and standard specifications to support fit consistency.
- Provide ongoing technical support and training to suppliers to maintain high-quality standards.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Degree in Fashion Design.
- 5+ years of experience in fit, patternmaking, or a related field.
- Strong expertise in patternmaking and grading.
- Solid understanding of garment production, construction techniques, and textiles.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and thoroughness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of Illustrator, PLM software, and CAD patternmaking systems (e.g., LECTRA) — an asset.
- Bilingual (French and English) to communicate effectively with our international suppliers.
