Job Description
The Warehouse Attendant plays a key role in the organization and efficiency of DHC Communications’ warehouse operations. This position is responsible for receiving and managing inventory, fulfilling sales orders, shipping and receiving materials, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
The successful candidate will bring experience in warehouse operations and demonstrate strong computer skills to assist in automating transactions, running reports, and developing efficient processes for daily warehouse tasks.
This position is an onsite position, located at 607 Front Street in Nelson. BC. The expectation is for 40hrs per week, 7am-3pm, with some flexibility as needed. The salary range for this position is $60,000- $65,000 annually.
Duties and Responsibilities
Receiving and Processing Stock
- Receive incoming purchase orders, inspect shipments, and match items against packing slips.
- Ensure all received items are accurate and complete before fulfilling corresponding purchase orders.
Order Picking and Fulfillment
- Accurately pick and label items for Sales Orders and stage them in designated areas.
- Clearly communicate item locations and order status to installers and project managers.·
Inventory Organization and Management
- Label inventory with SKU, part number, and description before placing it in appropriate storage locations.
- Track and monitor stock levels, identify shortages, and compile restock lists.
- Conduct physical inventory counts and reconcile with digital inventory systems to identify and correct discrepancies.
- Sort and place items on racks, shelves or in bins.
System Updates and Reporting
- Update Sales Orders and project tracking software when materials are picked or added.
- Notify project managers of received items via designated software program, including shelf location and supporting documentation.
- Assist in running and generating inventory and shipping reports as needed.
Shipping and Returns
- Prepare outbound shipments and returns, including secure packing, documentation, and courier pickup scheduling.
- Record shipping details, such as waybills and tracking numbers, and update relevant tickets or systems.
Warehouse Organization and Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse space.
- Ensure all items are safely stored, aisles are clear, and tools and equipment are returned to proper locations.
Customer and Internal Support
- Support walk-in or call-in customers looking for in-stock items.
- Assist team members with warehouse-related needs, including locating materials or supplies.
Process Improvement and Technology Use
- Leverage software systems and tools to streamline warehouse operations.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of warehouse procedures and documentation.
- Participate in or lead efforts to automate repetitive tasks and enhance accuracy and efficiency through technology.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 2+ years of experience working in warehouse operations.
- Proficient with computers and capable of using inventory and reporting systems.
- Comfortable using email, ticketing systems, and digital tracking tools.
- Interest or experience in process automation or workflow optimization.
- Technically inclined with the ability to troubleshoot, run basic reports, and contribute to system improvements.
- Proficiency in financial planning software and MS Office.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on client service.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
- A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Must be able to work independently while collaborating with project managers and other staff.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly, and occasionally heavier items with assistance.
- Comfortable with frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and reaching throughout the workday, and climbing ladders or step stools to access higher shelving.
- Manual dexterity required for handling tools, packing materials, and labeling inventory.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment, which may include exposure to varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.
- Valid Drivers License and clean Drivers record.
