General Manager – Office Portfolio (GTA)

The Opportunity

We are seeking a General Manager to lead a portfolio of approximately 900,000 square feet across two office towers and one industrial asset in the Greater Toronto Area.

Reporting to the Senior Portfolio Manager, you will be accountable for the overall performance, strategic direction, and day-to-day operations of the portfolio. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong business acumen, operational expertise, and a proven ability to enhance asset value while delivering an exceptional tenant experience.
 
Key Responsibilities

Operations & Asset Performance
  • Provide strategic oversight and continuous improvement of building operations to enhance asset value
  • Optimize operational efficiencies and leverage resources to maximize financial performance
  • Oversee all building systems, maintenance programs, capital projects, and vendor performance
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Maintain high standards of tenant service and operational excellence, including parking operations

Leasing & Tenant Relations
  • Contribute to and help execute the long-term leasing and asset repositioning strategy
  • Support leasing efforts by collaborating with internal teams and external brokers to reduce vacancy and drive revenue growth
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with tenants, brokers, municipal stakeholders, and the local business community
  • Lead tenant retention initiatives and oversee lease renewals in coordination with head office

Financial Management
  • Lead the preparation and execution of annual operating and capital budgets
  • Deliver accurate monthly financial reporting, variance analysis, and performance insights
  • Monitor and control operating expenses, including common area costs and payables
  • Ensure effective management of receivables and timely rent collection
  • Oversee capital planning and value-enhancing investment initiatives

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing on-site management team
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and operational standards
  • Act as a key ambassador of Westcliff’s values and brand within the portfolio

Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in commercial property management, preferably within office assets
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex operations
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills with a client-service mindset
  • Highly organized, proactive, and results-driven with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated sound business judgment and decision-making capability
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Yardi is an asset
  • Knowledge of BOMA BEST or other sustainability programs is an asset
