High/Low-lift Truck Driver – Catering Operations
Reporting to: Catering Operations Manager & Transport Duty Manager
Location: Saint-Hubert, MET – Montreal Metropolitan Airport

About YHU Terminal
YHU Terminal is a joint venture between Porter Aviation Holdings and Macquarie Asset Management, leading the development of a new, state-of-the-art passenger terminal at Montreal Metropolitan Airport (Saint-Hubert). Scheduled to open in late 2025, the terminal will serve up to four million passengers annually, setting a new benchmark in passenger experience and operational safety.
 
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Transport Duty Manager, the High-lift Driver is responsible for the safe and accurate loading, unloading, and delivery of catering equipment and in-flight supplies to aircraft using a high-loader (catering truck). The driver ensures that all operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with operational and regulatory procedures.
 
Key Responsibilities
High-Lift Truck Operation & Aircraft Servicing
•  Conduct safe and accurate operation of high/low-lift catering trucks, including:
  • Pre-trip inspections
  • Safe driving airside
  • Aircraft approach and positioning
  • Platform elevation and alignment with aircraft doors
  • Secure loading and unloading of galleys and trolleys
•  Follow YHU SOPs related to aircraft interface, including chocking, cone placement, ERA rules, and communication protocols.
•  Maintain situational awareness of aircraft movement, GSE traffic, marshallers, and ramp conditions.
•  Ensure the catering truck is operated smoothly around aircraft structures, avoiding any contact or damage.

Loading / Offloading & Galley Management & Safety
  • Load and unload catering items according to:
    • Flight schedules
    • Loading labels and galley diagrams
    • Airline specifications and stowage requirements
  • Verify that all galley positions are correctly stocked and secured before closing the aircraft door.
  • Communicate with flight crew regarding inventory discrepancies, galley issues, or special requests.
  • Return equipment to base promptly after service and report any irregularities to Dispatch.
  • Complete and sign the Security Declaration for each flight.
  • Report any signs of tampering, broken seals, or suspicious items to Dispatch or Duty Manager immediately.
  • Adhere to all ramp safety policies, PPE requirements, and three-points-of-contact rules.
  • Participate in safety briefings and follow prescribed corrective actions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including the truck interior and exterior.
  • Support warehouse or transport tasks when required.
  • Carry out other operational duties as assigned by the Duty Manager or Operations Manager.

Food Safety, Cold Chain & HACCP Compliance
  • Ensure all catering items (meals, beverages, ice, special meals) are handled safely and hygienically.
  • Maintain cold chain integrity during transport and loading.
  • Record and verify temperatures where required.
  • Follow all hygiene, contamination prevention, and allergen control practices.

Communication & Coordination
  • Maintain constant communication with Dispatch for flight timing, changes, and instructions.
  • Inform Duty Manager of any:
    • Delays
    • Equipment issues
    • Missing items
    • Security or safety concerns
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of driver logs and vehicle condition reports.
 
Qualifications & Competencies
  • Minimum 1-3 years in truck driving
  • Experience in logistics is considered an asset.
  • Clear criminal background & ability to obtain Transport Canada security clearance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in; French/ English is an asset.
  • Valid Canadian Driver’s License and ability to obtain an AVOP (D/A) certification.
  • Organized, adaptable, and able to perform under pressure in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Strong situational awareness and safety mindset.
  • Ability to read and understand loading diagrams and operational instructions.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50–70 lbs regularly.
  • Work at heights (20–25 feet) when operating a high-lift platform.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
 
Working Conditions:
  • Work in outdoor environments and variable weather conditions.
  • Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends during peak operations.
  • May involve lifting equipment and responding to on-site incidents.
