About YHU Terminal
YHU Terminal is a joint venture between Porter Aviation Holdings and Macquarie Asset Management, leading the development of a new, state-of-the-art passenger terminal at Montreal Metropolitan Airport (Saint-Hubert). Scheduled to open soon, the terminal will serve up to four million passengers annually, setting a new benchmark in passenger experience and operational safety.
 
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Catering Operations Manager, the Warehouse Duty Manager – Catering Operations is responsible for the daily coordination and supervision of catering activities. oversees the daily activities of the catering warehouse, including receiving, temperature control, inventory management, flight assembly, cart/trolley preparation, sanitation, and secure storage of in-flight supplies.
The role ensures:
  • On-time and accurate flight builds according to customer airline specifications.
  • Full compliance with HACCP, CFIA, Transport Canada (Part 5), and YHU SOPs.
  • Cold chain integrity, FIFO, proper labeling, and sanitation controls.
  • Operational readiness of warehouse equipment, materials, and personnel.
  • A safe and secure warehouse environment aligned with YHU SMS.
The Duty Manager serves as the on-shift leader for all warehouse personnel, providing supervision, coaching, performance oversight, and cross-functional coordination.
 


Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations Leadership
  • Ensure warehouse preparation and workflow (staging, pick & pack, cart assembly, waste segregation, storage replenishment) meet operational efficiency standards.
  • Maintain continuous coordination with Transport Duty Manager, Kitchen, Dispatch, and OCC to support on-time performance.
  • Verify pre-dispatch temperatures, dry ice placement, and cold chain integrity until delivery to aircraft.
  • Ensure compliance with Transport Canada – In-Flight Security Requirements including:
    • sealed carts,
    • tamper-evident devices,
    • controlled access zones,
    • CSIFSD documentation,
    • chain-of-custody procedures.
  • Report any signs of tampering, contamination, or security breaches.
  • Monitor on-time performance and operational efficiency throughout the shift.
  • Conduct daily briefings with warehouse associate to align on goals and safety updates.
  • Assign tasks, manage shift coverage, and support real-time decision-making to maintain smooth operations.

Inventory control & Receiving Oversight
  • Oversee all receiving operations:
    • verification of PO documents,
    • quantity and quality checks,
    • expiry date verification,
    • packaging integrity,
    • temperature checks for perishable goods.
  • Ensure all items are logged, labeled, and stored under appropriate conditions (Dry / Chill / Frozen).
  • Enforce FIFO, stock rotation, and proper bin assignment for all consumables and equipment.
  • Monitor and validate inventory counts, daily cycle counts, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Manage inbound/outbound shipments and ensure compliance with YHU SOPs and airline instructions.

Food Safety, Security, Cold Chain, and HACCP Compliance
  • Enforce compliance with company safety policies, airport authority regulations, and Transport Canada standards.
  • Supervise all warehouse shifts, ensuring accurate and timely flight builds according to airline specifications, galley plans, and loading sheets.
  • Assign and coordinate daily tasks for warehouse associates, forklift drivers, pickers, cleaners, and flight builders.
  • Validate that all outbound catering is complete, compliant, and properly sealed before release to Transport.
  • Ensure all warehouse staff follow HACCP procedures, sanitation protocols, and allergen control requirements.
  • Verify completion of:
    • temperature logs (fridges, freezers, carts),
    • sanitation logs,
    • cleaning verification forms,
    • allergen separation procedures,
    • food handling controls.
  • Maintain continuous oversight of cold rooms and ensure corrective actions for any temperature excursions.
  • Ensure secure handling and storage of food, beverages, special meals, and crew items.
  • Conduct or participate in incident investigations and ensure timely reporting and documentation.
  • Promote a proactive safety-first culture through visible leadership and training reinforcement.
  • Track and follow up on safety observations and corrective action plans.
  • Support corrective actions and monitor compliance with QHSE recommendations.
  • Ensure all warehouse zones designated for secure inflight supplies follow strict access control and screening requirements.
  • Validate tamper-evident seals, CSIFSD forms, and chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Report any suspicious item, damaged seal, or irregularity immediately.
  • Support internal and external audits: Transport Canada, CFIA, airline quality inspections.
  • Promote a Safety-First culture within the warehouse environment.
  • Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and ongoing coaching for warehouse personnel.
  • Enforce proper use of PPE, safe lifting techniques, ergonomic best practices, and forklift safety.
  • Lead or support hazard identification, incident reporting, and VORTEX submissions.
  • Conduct facility inspections, warehouse audits, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Ensure compliance with YHU SMS, emergency procedures, spill control, and environmental standards.

Administrative & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate Catering service logs, incident reports, and operational records.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of:
    • flight build sheets,
    • inventory data,
    • receiving records,
    • temperature logs,
    • sanitation checklists,
    • warehouse KPIs.
  • Provide shift handovers and operational reports to management.
  • Participate in strategic planning to improve warehouse workflows, storage systems, and automation.
  • Provide operational reports to management and contribute to weekly and monthly KPI reviews.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve service issues and improve processes.
  • Participate in audits (internal, Transport Canada, CFIA, airline).
  • Carry out other operational duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
People Leadership & Training
  • Lead, mentor, and coach drivers, driver assistants, and transport leads.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for high-lift operations, aircraft service procedures, and safety compliance.
  • Address performance issues, enforce discipline, and promote a professional, customer-oriented environment.
  • Ensure team adherence to YHU policies on uniform, grooming, PPE, and conduct.
 
Qualifications & Competencies
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in warehouse, inflight catering, food logistics, or ground handling operations.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability & willingness to obtain DA/AVOP certifications.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively and motivate teams.
  • Clear criminal background & ability to obtain Transport Canada security clearance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in; French/ English is an asset.
  • Organized, adaptable, and able to perform under pressure in a time-sensitive environment.
  • High school diploma (post-secondary education preferred).
  • College diploma or University certificate on supply chain management (Preferred).

  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced, time-critical, safety-sensitive environment.
 
Working Conditions:
  • Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends during peak operations.
  • May involve lifting equipment and responding to on-site incidents.
