Position Summary

The Vice-President, Health Information Technology (HIT) at Christie Innomed plays a central strategic leadership role within the organization. This individual is responsible for defining, executing, and overseeing the strategic direction as well as the daily operations of the HIT division. This unit includes a wide range of clinical and organizational digital solutions, such as enterprise imaging platforms (including radiology, cardiology, and digital pathology solutions), cloud infrastructures, artificial intelligence applications, data integration tools, and cybersecurity frameworks—all designed to support healthcare providers in delivering modern, safe, and efficient care.

As a key member of the leadership team, the Vice-President, HIT ensures the long-term growth of the division, its alignment with market trends, operational excellence, and a strong client focus.

This role requires an experienced, innovative, and forward-thinking executive capable of leading high-performing teams, working cross-functionally, and positioning Christie Innomed as a Canadian leader in health information technology. The successful candidate must bring a mix of strategic vision, solid understanding of clinical and IT systems, strong financial acumen, and an ability to foster organizational and cultural alignment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Vision

  • Define and lead the overall strategic roadmap for the HIT division, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and evolving market trends.
  • Drive innovation by identifying emerging technologies (e.g., AI, cloud-native infrastructure, interoperability standards) and integrating them into the company’s portfolio.

  • Translate the long-term vision into multi-year action plans, including R&D direction, solution integration, and commercialization initiatives.

  • Represent the HIT division in strategic leadership meetings and contribute to enterprise-wide decisions.

Business Growth and Positioning

  • Oversee business development efforts to increase market share, expand the solution offering, and strengthen Christie Innomed’s position in the Canadian health IT sector.

  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships to enhance competitive advantage and diversify the offering.

  • Guide the sales team in acquisition strategies, RFP responses, and high-value client proposals.

  • Lead product-led growth strategies and SaaS commercialization, focusing on platform adoption, annual recurring revenue (ARR), and renewal optimization.

  • Act as an external ambassador for Christie Innomed at events, conferences, and with healthcare stakeholders and government agencies.

Operational Management and Financial Oversight

  • Lead and be accountable for the operational performance of the HIT division, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, and execution.

  • Oversee project delivery, solution implementation, client onboarding, and technical support to ensure quality results within deadlines and budgets.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service-level agreements (SLAs) to promote continuous improvement.

Leadership and Talent Development

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of directors, architects, project managers, technical experts, and support staff.

  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability, innovation, and client success.

  • Drive succession planning, internal mobility, and talent retention within the HIT division.

  • Promote employee engagement, inclusive leadership, and organizational alignment in a hybrid or distributed environment.

Client Delivery and Relationship Management

  • Ensure excellence in service delivery across all HIT solutions, maintaining strong client relationships and high satisfaction.

  • Actively support strategic accounts through executive briefings, solution reviews, and senior-level client engagements.

  • Proactively and collaboratively resolve major client issues and escalations.

  • Collaborate with clients to co-develop new features, optimize clinical workflows, and increase adoption of Christie Innomed technologies.

Technology Oversight and Risk Management

  • Oversee compliance and interoperability aspects of HIT offerings in collaboration with IT, Corporate Services, and Legal teams.

  • Guide product and technology teams to ensure compliance with standards such as HL7, FHIR, DICOM, and emerging AI/ML models.

  • Support quality audits and due diligence processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, or equivalent advanced degree) strongly preferred.

  • Certifications or training in health technology leadership, cybersecurity, or AI (e.g., CHIME, HIMSS) are assets.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in health IT, digital health, enterprise software, or related fields.

  • At least 5 years in a senior executive role with strategic planning, P&L management, and business development responsibilities in a complex, regulated environment.

  • Proven success in implementing and delivering digital health systems.

  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams (product, architecture, development, client support).

  • Demonstrated ability to lead transformation projects, system integrations, and innovation initiatives in clinical or hospital settings.

  • Ability to grow business by identifying new opportunities and driving sustainable growth.

Knowledge and Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, including radiology, oncology, and hospital information systems.

  • Deep knowledge of interoperability frameworks and data standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM, IHE profiles).

  • Expertise in cloud architecture, cybersecurity best practices, and enterprise health solution deployment.

  • Exposure to AI or data analytics applications in clinical contexts is a strong asset.

  • Understanding of the Canadian healthcare system, provincial health authorities, and public-sector procurement processes.

Leadership and Business Competencies

  • Strategic thinker able to translate vision into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.

  • Strong business acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and board-level communication.

  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop talent in a high-performance environment.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and build client trust.

  • Comfortable operating in a bilingual environment; fluency in French and English is mandatory.
