Job Description
The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for developing sales of Granby Composites industrial water storage tanks to customers from Kingston, Ontario, across Western Canada. The role serves as both a technical and commercial expert in a custom project sales environment with a long sales cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Development and Territory Management
With the support of the Sales Director:
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with municipalities, general contractors, specialized contractors (sprinkler systems), and other end users.
  • Manage and prepare complete bid submission files for municipal, provincial, and federal public tenders.
  • Maintain an active presence with engineering firms to encourage specification of Granby Composites solutions in projects.
  • Conduct direct sales to end-user customers and indirect sales through training and technical support to engineers.
  • Represent the company during customer meetings, technical presentations, training sessions, and industry events.
Technical Support and Project Analysis
  • Receive and analyze customer plans, specifications, and technical requests.
  • Identify optimal solutions within the Granby Composites product range, considering technical, regulatory, and budget constraints.
  • Propose alternative and competitive technical solutions compared to competing systems (notably concrete).
  • Understand and validate key project parameters (above-ground or buried installation, capacity, applicable standards, etc.).
Quotations and Sales Cycle Management
  • Prepare detailed technical and commercial quotations for custom projects.
  • Present quotations to customers and respond to technical and commercial questions.
  • Manage a long sales cycle involving multiple iterations, plan revisions, and technical adjustments.
  • Follow up on opportunities from the design phase through to order confirmation.
Coordination and Project Management
  • Coordinate customer account setup and purchase order acquisition.
  • Follow up on approval of plans and specifications in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the customer and internal departments (engineering, production, administration).
  • Participate in certain project management activities to ensure delivered solutions meet customer expectations.
