Job Summary 

Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the Strategic Purchasing Manager, the person who fills the position of Purchasing Manager - Operations will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the purchasing department. This person will be in charge of seasonal planning and inventory tracking. The Purchasing Manager - Operations will be called upon to develop and maintain good relationships with our suppliers. We are looking for a dynamic individual who wants to put their knowledge and skills to good use and who is committed to the long-term development and growth of the Purchasing Department. 

Seasonal planning
  • Forecasting operational needs and identifying opportunities
  • Analyzing merchandise costs
  • Presenting operational purchasing strategies to management
  • Negotiating with various suppliers
  • Preparing orders
  • Preparing documentation and training materials for new products
  • Tracking and updating merchandise receipts
  • Planning and setting merchandise selling prices
Inventory management and tracking
  • Compare current sales with the strategy established during planning
  • Review the established strategy to optimize sales
  • Make necessary adjustments to pricing, promotions, etc.
  • Conduct ongoing demand forecasting
  • Generate and use various internal analysis tools.
Management of the purchasing department
  • Management of the purchasing department, consisting of a team of a dozen employees
  • Supervising and supporting the two department supervisors
  • Ensuring the smooth running of processes related to purchasing and order processing
  • Ensuring daily operations related to customer orders
  • Communicating with various suppliers regarding issues or needs during the season.
Analysis/management and monitoring of guarantees and pricing agreements
  • Continuously validate the compliance of discount programs
  • Validate and monitor the achievement of purchasing objectives to meet volume discount targets.
  • Modify purchasing strategies based on current sales in order to meet volume discount targets.
  • Ensure the smooth running and management of the manufacturing warranty claims process.
Other duties associated with the position
  • The Purchasing Manager - Operations will be primarily responsible for the tire and rim ordering process, but may also be required to manage any other type of supplies necessary for the operation of the business
  • Perform all other related duties

Skills profile

Required education and work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field (other combinations of education and experience will be considered)
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar position
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience managing a team
  • Professional certification in purchasing or supply chain management (asset)
  • Experience in the tire industry (asset)

Salary
  • Between 65,000$ and 85,000$, negotiable depending on the experience of the successful candidate for the position
  • The position is eligible for overtime at a premium rate
